Welcome to Leamington Spa

Royal Leamington Spa is a medium-sized town in Warwickshire, in the heart of the English countryside. It has a fine georgian town centre and a spa in the Royal Pump Rooms. Leamington Spa also has one of the finest local shopping centers.

Leamington is one of a group of Warwickshire towns to the South-East of Birmingham (the UK's second largest city). The others are Stratford-upon-Avon (birthplace of Shakespeare), Warwick (home to probably the finest castle in Britain) and Kenilworth (a smaller, more genteel, castle town). Ten miles to the north we have the city of Coventry, home to Jaguar cars. To the south we have the Cotswolds with attractive towns like Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh and Bourton-on-the-Water less than an hour's drive away.

Leamington is a thriving town with a strong economy, a sizeable student population (many who attend nearby Warwick University) and an exceptionally large number of pubs.

In the summer, Leamington is always amongst the leading contenders for the "Britain in Bloom" award with everything from the parks to roundabouts and the fire station decked out with flowers. Its worth visiting in July/August/September just for that.

In short, Leamington is a good place to live and a good place to visit. If you're not here already, why not come and take a look?

I was born in leamington and lived there untill i married and relocated to shropshire due to work. i do pop back from time to time and i have to say that i dont really reconise the town now.It seems full of expensive coffee shops and the leamington i knew is no more, BUT i even now still yearn for leamington and miss it, its a beautiful town and im affraid that people cannot see its real beauty. The gardens are spectacular and always have been the town is always improving but it fails in some things like the upkeep of the canals, councils seem to forget that there are other routes into leamington J West

My wife and myself visited on Sunday25th.April after spending a few days in Market Bosworth. We both were impressed by everything we saw in your lovely town. The cleanliness was something to behold and only wish this type of standard could be adopted in many towns and cities in Britain.
The St.Geoges Day festivities were taking place and we enjoyed the afternoon watching that after walking around the gorgeous park admiring the floral display and wandering in and out of the shops.
We certainly will visit again.

I visited Leamington for the first time ever last Friday (16 July) and was delighted by it. It must be even better when the weather's finer, but it was enough to make me want to come back.

What is marvellous is the variety of shops that you don't get anywhere else; other towns are so samey in comparison. I bought loads of clothes in Woodwards (so sad it's closing down!) and a hat in a super little gents' outfitters, and just wandered around taking it all in.

Next time, it won't be for just a day...

During the week 12 to 19 April I was one of a party who "did" the Warwickshire Ring Canal Cruise. I have never been to Royal Leamington Spa before. My impression of the place as viewed from the canal is not that which any town would really want if it is trying to encourage visitors. Certainly I will not go there again unless I have proof it has improved considerably. The surface of the canal through the town is revolting due to the amount of floating rubbish of all sorts. The noise coming from under the boat made one hesitate to think of what we could not see! Where the inhabitants' gardens back on to the canal cuttings the face of the cutting is without exception liberally decorated with all manner of rubbish just thrown over the garden fence. We lost count of the number of old refrigerators, freezers televisions etc. Garden refuse, obviously, was easily disposed of on the system of "If I can't see it does not matter, throw it over the fence into the canal cutting"!

The citizens and town leaders must be proud of fact that during that above week Royal Leamington Spa was easily the most obnoxious town on the Warwickshire Ring.

I personally would recommend anyone considering a visit your town to avoid it. From the canal it is disgusting.

Why don't you do something about it?

I have to say - Get a life!! I come from Leam and now live in Glasgow, and I have to say that I would never move back. I admit Sugar is is the best club in Leamington, but then where's the competition. I suggest you visit somewhere where things are really happening and not just little town stuck in the "middle of the country". Theres far more out there than just Leamington Spa!

Leamington Has a great town centre but why is it that litter prevails almost everywhere. The local council is useless. neighboring councils provided wheely bins for every houshold almost 10 years ago. Warwick District Council has done nothing. Dispite improvements to Clemens street, South leamington remains an eyesore. Litter is in almost every hedge, on almost all the playing fields you will find glass and rubbish.

The Councils Housing Stock remains sub standard. Where I live in the Redland Road area there hasnt been any modernisation programmes for over ten years. The Council hasnt even cleaned its own windows in over 10 to 15 years and kitchens and bathrooms are not fit for the 21st century and all our footpaths are dug up and full of holes and bumps. Leamington is a tale of 2 towns and its twee touristy areas are maintained at the expence of its residents.

You need look no further than Rugby Borough Council to find a model of how a council should conduct its business. I trust something will be done before the council rushes to hive off its housing stock to private landlords. We have paid for it in full.

Leam is ok...but everyone knows everyone else's business and all people ever do is get pissed and go 'clubbin-it-large' in places like Mirage, which is full of townies and slappers. The shops are cool and there's some nice bars around. Its also quite pretty and that's about it!

It's a great town. Lots to do, good nightlife, good shops, wonderful parks and gardens, good schools. And a fast-emerging non-league football club, Leamington FC - the Brakes.

Although born and raised in Leamington, I have now moved (only 10 miles away) and find my self coming back time and time again. The good thing about this is I can leave it all behind when I want! Lot's of Leam born people slag it off. Why? I'm proud to say I'm from Leamington and know a lot about its regency history and development.

I am a citizen of the great Leamington Spa. I think that this town is one of the best towns 4 miles. I prefer it over cov and birmingham. The police could ease off a bit tho, you cant hide from them!(not that I'd want to). Anyway good job Leamington!!!.

I have lived in leamington practically all my life. Most of it has been spent working behind bars.Kellys, Bakers wine bar,The Builders and finally Murphys Bar. I think Leamington is a great town with good pubs and great nightclubs.

Leamington is a nice town, better than Stratford for clubs but not as good as Birmingham. The Midlands has a good motorbike following which is right up my street, all the guys in leathers at the Watermen on a Wednesday night in the summer is a must!

Leamington is an ideal place to work. Great for shopping and plenty of pubs to visit during lunchtimes.
