My fav night out in wonderful Leamington

My fav night out in leamington is, when people cant mind thier own busness and want to start a fight over who has the biggest shoes,... or something Lame like that. But I must say that one day just before Dusk I was walking with my Girl along the Marina and for once in a long time, I have forgotten how rotten Leamington really is. SO as my fav night out, forget it, Leamington night life sucks beyond any city or town that I have ever ventured into, and I speaking for myself will be looking to move to the county very soon, coming back to Good Ole Leam was one of the worst steps that I have ever done. And Hopfully will correct in the next little bit.

Power trip Leam

All I have to say about Leam is - What is going on!

Are the club owners getting to big for their boots? I know of so many people being banned or barred, for a month or even years! Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, if you go to a club intoxicated you cant always be at your best. I know people who cant get in clubs in Leam because of club owners power tripping! It's really silly. Why exclude one person or two from a club simply because a 'doorman does not like them' or if someone witnesses an assault by a 'doorman' and reports it to the Police. I am aware 'the management reserve the right' speech but it is terrible don’t you think?

Vibes..

I dunno. All clubs variate depending on the music, people your with and the general personal issues on that night too!!

Music.. I'm personally in it for the music. Drum & bass nights down Robins Wells (Friday nights) it the only stop I appreciate, really. Hasn't Mirage changed to Evolution? Anyway, can't get in with me trainers.. I'm not there to get drunk and/or smoothy-it in Sunday best!
I'm just up for dancing!

I suppose I need a different club with different vibes for me to scoot off to with each different mood (blazing/chilled/bored).

When I'm bored I wanna hear something new (scratching/breakbeat/anything a bit experimental).
When I'm chilled, just put on the Ibiza-chillout-house-club-chillout-remix albums (the more the ridiculous the title: the better!).
When I'm blazing Techno/Drum&bass.. full throttle!

But hey.. that's me! Oh and a coffee shop for afters with an acoustic gitaur kicking off! Then maybe a kebab..

THERE IS NO DEDICATED URBAN MUSIC NIGHT!! Fact is that this is the top selling music genre at the moment and there is a huge following in Leam. Club managers need to open their eyes. I've been to pretty much all the clubs in town & on every occasion, the urban tunes are played in the secondary rooms which are usually packed.

Sugar on Thursdays is uncomfortably packed downstairs & we have to queue for ages to get down there as well. Looking round the main part of the club, there are just a few people by the bar & a virtually empty dancefloor. Surely common sense is to put the more popular genre in the main room. Same thing goes for Mirage & Breeze. Went to the launch of a supposedly new night "RED" at Mirage and again, RnB room (Breeze) packed & Main room (Mirage) bearly full. I dont even know why the Saturday Breeze DJ bothers to belts out Funky House when most people only jump on the dancefloor when the RnB is on.

What gets me is that the club managers/Promoters/DJs in Leam have not caught on & still continue with their tired old commercial dance/trance set ups. From what I hear, the clubs wont do RnB nights coz of the trouble they bring. Now I've never seen a major kick off on Thursday downstairs at Sugar nor have I seen one in ages at Mirage too when the RnB plays. It's a pain having to travel to places like Stratford (can you believe...), Cov & B'ham for proper RnB nights when there are 4 capable clubs in Leam. What makes it worse is that some RnB DJs that play at these nights out of town seem to be from Leamington!!!
CLUB MANAGERS NEED TO START GIVING US CLUBBERS WHAT WE WANT.

..or Leam is gonna continue with this current clubbing drought we're having.

No place like Moo

Come on guys lets be honest, nights out in Leamington are pretty shocking! Moo plays good music(when its open) and has a good crowd with a friendly atmosphere, The Jug & Jester is a great pub with plenty of room and serves good quality beer, its Abandon night on a Monday night showcase some very talented local bands, one of depressingly few pubs to do so in town. Mumbai Blu has also been a huge improvement on the old Coach and Horses and has a really talented DJ on weekends, although it gets extremely crowded. Every other bar in town plays pretty generic, bland, dance and pop music and caters to the 'lets get wrecked and act like chavs' crowd. Rios and Mirage are frankly a disgrace and should be shut down. This town needs a couple of quality bars which stay open late have plenty of space and comfortable seating and most importantly, play excellent music.

Leamington Spa in quality dance music shocker!!!!!

Fusion* first appeared on 21st December 2002 at Pacific Rim, under the name of "Trancefusion", as its weekly Saturday night. Two years and a few changes later, Fusion* has since played host to the cream of DJing talent , worthy to grace any turntable. DJ’s the likes of Amber D (Tidy Trax), Chris Turner (Godskitchen/Spin), AJ Gibson (Godskitchen), Jon O’Bir (Godskitchen), Andy Bagguley (Passion), Hinsley (Polysexual), John Wright (BabyPassion), Sophie Sugar (The Gallery, London) and Subb-an (Bounce) have all featured behind the decks, as well as the cream of the best in up and coming DJ’s, giving them a chance to prove that they can rock the dancefloor, just as much as anyone, all helping define the sound of who they are and what we are and spreading the reputation far and wide. Run by a collective who love their music. It all comes down to this; No attitude, just damn fine tunes, where the music comes first and everything else follows second. Simple things. But they make all the difference.

Since October, Fusion* now resides in Stresa Bar, opposite the MVC music store on Regent Street. We attempt to bring the best up and coming DJ's, together with established DJ's, with a music policy of damn fine dance music, that ranges from House, Breaks, Trance, Hard Dance & Techno. Entry is totally free, as we're not in it for the profit and runs fortnightly on Thursday's and is on from 7.30pm until just after 11pm. Check the website for details;

I moved away from Leamington a few years ago but still visit occassionally... I'm very into the cyber/industrial/EBM scene - which I know Robins Well did once. BUT is there anywhere in leam that does that type of stuff at the moment? If not, Y not?? yes there are some people that need drugs 2 enjoy themselves, as they obviously dont know how to without them... but other cities/towns manage, so Y cant leamington?? Just because some people take drugs, surely that doesnt mean the whole scene has to stop! Its not fair 4 the rest of us who apprechaite the scene for what it is 'without drugs'!! There must be a club/bar in leam that is willing to tackle this??

The same old shit.

well, to start off with i wouldlike to say that the majority of the pubs/clubs in leamington are pretty lame. But that all depends on what u like when u go out. Robbin's Well is pretty shite but all my mates go down there and the drum and bass can get pretty stompin on a friday night so its nice to go down for a dance. I find leamington really annoying because there is never anywhere that plays techno, well thats sorta a lie kellys had a techno night just before xmas which was pretty phat, cyber steve who ive seen play the sanctuary in good ole b'ham mixed sum nice stomping techno. Robbin's well used to do techno, but there were too many people fucked up on K and E's. so there ends it. The pubs in leam used to be more of a laff, hardly any under age people, now when u go into leam all u see is i'm 14 dressed 18 with my tits and arse all over the place. man things have changed. Places i like to go are Kelseys (just been all done up to be all pretty) its cheap on a thursday night (1.30 pint stella!yes!) but only til 10.30 and thats when ur night starts!kelseys has free pool as well which is a bonus, but its still a dive. over the road u got bar leam which is cheap and free pool and its never busy, a very very good chill pub, nice relaxed (J5 in the jukebox). i never really venture uptown too much, far too many kids pissed off alcopops and guys who can't get laid. so i find i like to stay down the bottom end of town or fuck leamington completley and take a trip to birmimgham or london. loads better than shite little leam!

where has everyone been since 2001

Matt's extreme night out in Leamington (Major Missions)
Date: 20 December 2002, 12:00 am
Posted by:  Matt
Always start the evening off meeting with ya fellas in Satchwells. Basically coz there aint no music so u can chit chat bout how many times you laid ur bird the nite before etc etc.

After you have had a few its time to walk out the back door and down to Pacific Rim, this place is awsome on a Friday nite. Lots of birds lots of booze lots of fun. After you have had some of there cocktails of vodbulls get ur ass out of there and to Voodoo. Again this place is full of chicks and its a cool place to go to crack some booze back.

Next mission up to the white horse dont ask me why we go here the place is full of pissed up slappers but thats what is so amusing about it only have a quick one coz it aint worth staying just in case some under aged crack head whore jumps ya.

Once uve finished there move on to the Ocean Reef its a nice place the only drawback being its full of 15 year olds but its a gud place for Bud so get ur self a glass and slip the wet one down (Bud that is).

By this time ur quite pissed up and its time to mission to breeze bar its a phat mission but worth it. The bar maids are fit to fuck and its just pure Hip-Hop on a Friday night so get down there and get the party started. After the Hip-Hop has finished get into Mirage and dance the night away. Oh and if you are still standing after all that go to Viallis and grab urself a kebab they taste gud after god knows how many pints uve had!

Firstly I cannot stress enough how the town thrives with 100% townie material. Here you will meet some of the best examples of kevs and tracys. In order to survive prepare to add the word "shag" at the end of every sentence to go unnoticed amongst the local crowds.

Firstly to start the night land yourselves in

1. Slug and lettice - stylish bar, over 21's
2. Voodoo - huge spirit range, funky tribal settings inside and out
3. Kasa -nice little spot plays very good funky house on Fridays
4. Veba - this is a must for a quick round of shooters, chill out vodka bar
5. Bar Citrus - stylish venue, do a well nice strawberry cocktail, notorious for milfs
6. Cuba - trendy bar, jazzy tunes
7. Moo - funkiest bar in town but be warned it is extremely near to the white horse prepare to dodge the locals in passing shopping trolleys.

Places to stay well away from are,

* Benjamin Satchwells- the place is full of the towns veteran alcoholics.
* White horse- kinder garden with loud music.
* Mirage- More chezz than a mouse could eat

Choices of clubs are limited best bet is sugar usually house music upstairs and breakbeat hiphop styles downstairs. WORD OF WARNING MAY REQUIRE TORCH AND WELLYS VERY DARK AND SLIPPY UPSTAIRS. Enjoy SHAG!!

Normally we will start down at The White Horse which can be a good laugh and you will always find some1 you know! Hot chicks there too!!!

Then its off to Breeze Bar which has opened recently and backs onto Mirage... Have a few drinks in Breeze Bar and then its into Mirage through the back door and then the party really starts.. Lots of young chicks hang out here and also lots of townnies. If you look for trouble you can find it but if you keep out the way your in for a good night...

Next it's down to the kebab and then off home!

Manc night out

The white horse was pretty good though more of a stand around pub full of stuck up snobs and cheesy guys. Well maybe thats cos were mancs and see things from a much lighter point of view, It was good fun though you can't get to the bar.

Mirage - we loved the place especially on a thursday though they should have played more recent stuff aswell as the old tunes. Sugar was cool but we wern't too keen on the music but I was too busy pulling and I was battered so it didn't matter really. The atmosphere needs livening up a bit.

Robins Well - I cant wait to go though my midlander mate doesn't seem to impressed thats high class people for ya. Hallicarnas was great but I shouldnt have asked for salad on my kebab. I love ocean, nice cocktails. Voodoo, nice outside atmosphere. The vodka bar - I've seen better places. Great place overall apart from the pubs where you have to dress up which is pretty lame and snobbish if you ask us, but then again who did?

Weekday night out
Date: 10 April 2002, 12:00 am
Posted by:  Anonymous
over the past few months i have discovered that week nights are far better than weekends for 3 reasons

1. there are less people
2. where ever me and my friends go we wont get yelled at for appearing in large crowds- probably cause we bring in all the buisness.
3. all the kids have school in the morning so you are guarenteed to only be in the company of over 18's!

Whatever people have to say about the White Horse I disagree. It is a great place to be and the atmosphere is great Monday-Sunday. They always have a few good deals in the week and it brings them all in. Check out Sunday nights it can be well funnny.

Winstons avoid at all costs, exept if you are really pissed cause the drink is well cheap, but stick to bottles.

Satchwells is cool but the crowd is a little old, and you could get a few funny looks from the old people with their hearing-aids on to loud if you drink to much and start to get louder then you can control. The well is cool, more for the alternative person, its kinda intimidating if you are not in a large group.

Ocean is amazing it is a must on your way around!

Jaz's night out

You must start the night off with a bottle of bacardi jus to get you warmed up. Everyone normally goes to benji's because it has cheap drinks but if you like the young girl like one of my friends you must go to Winstons. If you want to listen to music while you are totally wasted then you have to go to White Horse. if your into RnB, Garage and hiphop you must go to Mirage it is a gud might and you are Guaranteed a snogg off one of the slappers but sorri i can't say that cuz i've got a girlfriend anyway i hope u decide to come down to leamington and if u do then have a gud night out.

An informative night out

Here is my somewhat informative guide of where to go and where not to go in our wonderful town of Leamington Spa.

To be honest what everyone says about the White Horse is true, it is full of mindless P***heads and half naked 14 year olds, but despite that there are some very fit blokes. Granted they know it but fit nether the less. The bar staff in there are ok but a bit like the clientele if you ask me!

Winstons is on pretty much the same level, how people think it is even remotely friendly baffles me, if you so much as look at the wrong person you get a smack or at the very least, pushed over.

Now, I personally prefer the laid back atmosphere of Pacific Rim, the bar staff are really friendly, so are the bouncers, the music ranges from open mic (Tuesdays), to jazz, dance, pop and gentle drum and bass.

Another of my favourites is Cuba, I have only just started going there but the atmosphere is laid back and the tunes are modern but not you classic case of teeny bopping stuff or hard core rock, its generally is very retro. If you go to Cuba make sure (If your female) you check out the ladies toilets, just have a look and you'll no what I mean!

The Lounge is also very classy, the clientele is generally a bit older but I personally think that?s what makes it as chilled out as it is.

Clubs - Mirage, don?t bother its full of bitchy teenage girls who are looking for a fight, is the place to go if your looking to pull a sweaty 14 year old or if your really lucky a past it 30 year old who gets his kicks looking at little girls.

Sugar - this is the place to go, fair enough its not Gatecrasher or Ministry of sound but its the best that Leamington has to offer. They have had some of the biggest names in drum and bass there (Hype - need I say anymore), the house music is fairly chilled out and old school and the chill out zone downstairs is....Chilled out!

If you only remember one thing about this article let it be, do not go to the two W's! (Winston's and White Horse)

Manvinder's night out
Date: 30 January 2002, 12:00 am
Posted by:  Manvinder Ranautta
The best place to start a night out is Satchwell's, cheap drinks and quite a lot of ladies. Then it's off to Winston's (for the under-age girls) the beer is always watered down so stick to bottles. Then Ocean, I recommend a pint of Bud, as they serve it in a chilled glass and of course, there are ladies !!

Next to White Horse, you wanna ruckus, come here, if not go down to pacific (£1 a Vodka Red Bull on thursdays) nice, chilled out place.

To top the night off, get yourself down to Club Mirage, all the others are balls. However, the doormen are big-headed and cocky, but the cheesy pop brings the totty. Finish up there and go have a kebab (I recommend a large lamb doner with extra mayo) at Pizza Dino (formerly Best Kebab at the back of Satchwell's.) .

OUT and about in Leamington Spa

This is a short guide to the 'gay scene' in Leamington Spa as I'm often getting asked about it and there isn't much info online. There's a fair few gay people in Leamington Spa but it suffers from "sateillite-town-syndrome", being close to the big cities of Coventry and Brum gay people tend tho go out there instead as there are more places to go.

Fortunately we have a decent, friendly pub - The Sozzled Sausage at the East end of Regent Street in the town centre. Ok its not a gay pub but it has a gay friendly atmosphere and is the sort of place you could comfortably take a guy or girl on a first date.

The best thing is - every Tuesday there's a gay night at the Sausage. Its upstairs and you have to pay £1 to get in. Just walk to the back of the pub and go through the back door by the toilets to get upstairs. The atmosphere is friendly but can occasionally get a little close when its packed out. The people there tend to be an older crowd as Leamington is an older-person type of town but people of all ages go and you're bound to see someone you fancy!

My friends and I find the gay night is a good way to meet people and not feel so lonely in a town which doesn't appear to be very gay-friendly on the surface. Give it a go and don't be afraid to talk to people...

Iain's night out & top 10 pubs

Having read, and been quietly disturbed by, my comments of a year or so ago, I feel it is now time to add a more wiser and learned opinion as to a night out in "Royal" (Dont make me laugh) Leamington Spa.

Top 10 Pubs in Leamington

1. Tavistock
2. Pacific Rim
3. Ocean
4. Bar Citrus
5. Glasnost
6. Robbin's Well
7. The Star
8. The Lounge
9. ... now im struggling! Sozzled Sausage
10. Voodoo

Now, there are two options for clubbing in Leamington. The first, and more upmarket (alledgedly) option of Sugar, a cheap club that tries to be classy but succeeds to a degree. The music is tolerable at best at the weekend but student nite in the week is excellent (favorite year out haunt, 2 many vodka-redbulls!) If u do go please experience both floors because otherwise u may die of boredom and I wouldn't want that on my hands!

Mirage is your second and in my view final option for clubbing, its cheesy, classless, tasteless, dirty, smelly, ugly, and a lot of other unsavoury things, but hey we all love it from time to time. Please dont go sober, it would be a traumatic experience. Have a few too many drinks, have a good time, and hope u dont remember it when u wake up!

But having tasted the delights of student life, and clubbing in London, nights out in Leamington are extremely limited! Anyway I hope all the people at home are well, and il be back from uni to torment u all again soon. Big up to the Wardens cricket, sainsbury's crew, and the priviledged few who have the honour of being called my friend!

My night out in Leamington

Only just recently started going out in Leamington, I was looking for somewhere different other than Coventry for my nights out and came across Leamington. WHAT A FANTASTIC PLACE FOR A NIGHT OUT!!!

I live in Kenilworth and we generally have quite a few beers there before heading off to Leamington. We start in the White Horse and yes I have heard some stories about this place. I think its fine and a really good laugh, I dont know if this is because we are drunk when we get there but we enjoy it in here, also the fact that you can get 4 aftershocks for £5, 4 aftershocks generally sets me off for a good night. If you fancy it, try the chocolate vodka mixed with Guiness, I had the bar staff cringing when I asked for this but it makes a good drink.

Then off to Murphys - not a bad little place, a few cheeky drink offers to sample. Voodoo next - really good pub, plenty of room and nice Guiness. Definetly got the best interior if you like that sort of thing, seen a few nice chicks in here also. Sausage - not much to say about this place buts its ok, well it must be cos I keep going back there. Glasnost Vodka Bar - well basically to neck some shots of vodka, nice place!! Yates - Sometimes we go here but it can get busy, if not then there is generally a different pub to climb into, depends how we feel.

Sugar or Mirage - been to both, both were fun!! Sugar can get very misty and dark, this proved very difficult for me as I am always wasted. I mostly go to Mirage now for the cheesy music as I prefer this to the music in Sugar. Sugar is still a good place to go but if you want to dance the night away then get yourself to Mirage!!

Ben Satchwells - Glasnost vodka bar - Ocean bar - Winstons - and for God's sake finish up in the White Horse and then go to Mirage... if there are any nice looking girls reading then drop me a line and we can meet up in Leam

The "avoiding the townies" night out

Let's be blunt. Leamington isn't exactly commended for it's classy pubs or friendly atmosphere. The people generally create a quite hostile atmosphere... particularly the men and nobody really feels completely safe. In the bigger cities, you may feel comfortable going up to random people in the street and saying hi to them, but don't chance it in Leamington.

Having said that, you just need to go to the right places. I personally think the 'White Horse' is the most hostile place to go. Townies with attitude problems looking for a fight basically. It's not my ideal pub. The drinks are reasonably cheap, especially for girls on a Wednesday, but the atmosphere is sharp.

Now, 'Winstons' is similar in it's townieness, but not in it's atmosphere. Due to the fact that the cliental in there is about 15 on average, you should have no problem taking any of them on in a fight and so generally the wee kids don't bother trying to start a fight. As a result, the atmosphere is energertic and bouncy, but also resembles a meat market in many ways. Lads... an easy place to pull; girls don't lower yourself to being one of them. On a Thursday, drinks are one pound after submitting your 2 pound entrance fee, which sounds great... but think about it, and you will realise you need to drink at least 3 or 4 pints, before your entrance fee even pays off.

If I were you, I'd start your evening with a visit to 'Benjamen Satchwells'. It's a nice friendly pub where you can sit and chat to your friends for cheap, without the loud, pumping beats of some cheap garage tune. The drinks are cheap, the bar staff are extremely friendly and you can actually talk in there... (granted, there's a mock library in there, but forget the bizzare gimmick).

Next stop a quick visit to either 'Pacific Rim' or 'Willoughbys' which are both close by. Both are cosy and relaxing pubs with a bit of music, good drinks and interesting decor. On a Thursday, Pacific gets real cheap after 8 (I think).

continued.....

You shouldn't really let a night out in Leam go by without a visit to 'Voodoo' (or though we often do, because my friends are asses). This is really the place to be. There seems to be a never-ending supply of places to explore in this classy pub. Outside is comfortable, with a marquee over the top in the winter. Inside, there are sofas and comfy seats. Only problem is, the drinks are slightly expensive. But, to be honest, who gives a @!$% when the atmosphere is as laid back as it is in here. Problem is, with 'Voodoos' rise in popularity comes the rise in the amount of hard-core townies who visit the place.

So for an even more laid back, easy-going atmosphere, you must visit 'Ocean' with a happy hour between 6 and 8 for cocktails. On a Tuesday... happy hour ironically lasts all night. In here you will find great ocean decor and a nice atmosphere, with good drinks.

A good follow on from Ocean is 'Sugar'. Described as the best club in town, the music is less cheasy than the strangely more popular 'Mirage' and the people are much friendlier. It does seem a bit too misty on some nights and the music can actually be 'too' loud in there and don't forget the weird bathroom flooring, but this is the club to be. Downstairs is chilled out and friendly and the music is also different to upstairs... an ambitous club, but not really your standard one. On a Tuesday, it's double vodka and red bull night, where you can get two for one (I think!) and entrance is 3 quid.

Mirage? Rios? Options? Well, if you must go to one of these, go to Mirage. Although full of townies, slappers, teeny-boppers and under-aged kids, it's actually a good place to go if you just want to have fun and dance the night away. The bouncers can be a bit hostile and heavy-handed, but it's needed with the amount of utter t$%s that go in there. However, a good night out, where a lot of people prefer to go for the cheesy music and easy girls. Rios is for the more 'mature' clubbers... usually above 30 with an escaped childhood. 'Nuff said. And Options...? Well, your lounge is probably larger than this place but it's good for a party. Nothing more.

SO... RECOMMENDED: FOR A QUIET, CHEAP DRINK: 'Benjamen Satchwells'/'Willoughbys'
FOR CLASS: 'Voodoo'/'Ocean'/'Cuba'/'Bar Citrus'
CLUBS: 'Sugar'
ALSO... TRY... CHILL OUT PUB: 'Robins Well' Cliental: Young skaters/students Atmosphere: friendly and chilled out - no trouble likely Music: Alternative Recommended?: Yes. It's a good place when it gets going later on. With nice friendly people, a pool table and lots of games machines.
YOU MIGHT LIKE: LOUD MUSIC AND YOUNG PEOPLE: 'Winstons'/'Mirage'
SHOTS OF STUFF: 'Glasnost' But...
AVOID: 'White Horse'

Classy Leamington pubs

Can I just say the pubs in leamington are at last classy!!! Well the majority at least...there is still of course the horse, murphys (and unfortunately I have to say it, Satchwells - it could just do with a decent tune and a revamp). Voodoo, Cuba, Moo, Ocean, Bar Citrus keep up the good work (but give the cocktails a miss in the latter, they're still practising!!). Emily you're dead right, the white horse is full of children ATTENTION ALL POLICE OFFICERS, but we all know your hidden agenda behind voodoo, its about 6ft 3"!!

The White Horse and Mirage should be shoved somewhere where the sun don't shine, only go there if you want to bump into 14 year olds with attitude problems, I agree with everone else about the bouncers of these places: as long as you show a bit of cleavage, you can get in. Dont even get me started on Murphy's...

Voodoo is by far the best pub, the cocktails rock, as does the atmosphere. Sugar is cool but everyone has put it on a pedastal that I dont think it deserves, you can have a boogie or chill out, but I still get the feeling that Im dancing in a bathroom. Barstaff are friendly and efficient, though.

Cuba! is great, somewhat expensive, but the cocktails are good, just one piece of info, dont have a tab, tres tres expensive.

Few vodkas at home to start the night.

Order of visit to pubs :

* Vodka Bar = Flavoured vodkas mmmmmmm!
* Sausage = Greate decor, really nice outside, chilled & tranquil calm before the storm of the night.
* Benjamin Satchwells = cheap/crap atmosphere
* Voodoo = Good talent/good venue
* Ocean = Great bar staff, quality measures, good decor
* Winstons = Granted the average age is 14, good cheese, Red Devil!
* White Horse = Good atmosphere if you are drunk enough!

Usually stagger to Mirage to the idiot bouncers.

The No-Nova night out

Basically, steer clear of any pub that has a fleet of Vauxhall Nova's parked out side...that'll be The White Horse and Winstons...

If your idea of a good night out is watching someone getting the crap kicked out of them standing in a room full of under 18's then these pubs are for you. But, if you're like me and want to have a good relaxed p**s up, then its Satchwells for cheapness, Ocean for greatness and Sugar for the old clubby bit at the end.

Ocean is by far the best pub in Leamington although its not the cheapest. But it does have cocktail night (happy hour all night) on Tuesdays and then you can hit Sugar for Vod-Bull night which is about £4 entry and £1 a redbull and vodka....cheapest night possible really..

Also "IN THE GROOVE" is the place to be. This is a night at Sugar put on by my mates and is a range of all kinds of music you want to hear. This is usually the first Monday of the month.

Voodoo is also cool, especially in the summer because of the big garden and The Willoughby is nice too. (even though the barstaff are really miserable gits)

My Top 10: (actually 7 cos theres only 7 decent pubs)

1. Ocean
2. Satchwells
3. Voodoo
4. Willoughby
5. Sozzled Sausage
6. The Lounge
7. Moo

Well.....I think Sugar is alright but the music gets a bit samey....it's also a bit small but i like the people that go there. Not so many townies and slappers as u get at Mirage, although if your just out for a laugh go to Mirage and dance to cheesy crap! Options...heard to much about it to venture near it! Rio's....mmm...not sure....haven't been there...heard it's alright. If u wanna pull a really gorgeous chilled out kinda lad go to Sugar...if u want a bastard go to Mirage! Oh yeah....another thing....average age at Mirage is about 15!

Pub reviews for the slightly older set of boys night out!!

We all meet up in the Bar 44 by 8 o'clock on a Friday night. The atmosphere has changed recently and for some reason younger people are starting to spoil our groups fun of being able to talk to the occasional slightly older woman. Still a good place to start off and work across Leamington.

Next stop (via the cash machines) is what is commonly known as the long bar, just a cheap drink, see who else is meeting upin there whilst avoiding all the young students? Then off to Willoughby's cutting through the car park. Gets a little packed earlier rather than later, good to look at woman above your heads on the Balcony, nice atmoshere good age range for us older guy's.

Slug maybe 2 drinks and then off to Alistars, which is more my sort of place, older people usually having already seen in Bar 44, nice place cool in the summer and a good back yard area to hang around in and show off a tan. Some of the Guy's have girlfriends and have to meet up for the last drink in the Hogs Head, good range of beer, strange group, but can be entertaining, then for the singles among us for a last quicky in Wildes before discussing where to meander off to get a curry. Sometimes the whole group don't make it to the end of the night loosing the occasional softy to a woman here

Get in for 7'ish, go to Glastnost the vodka bar first for a few Dime Bar Vodka shots, then proceed to the wig for some cheap quality drinkin...don't drink the shit watered down lager, heres a drinkin plan for the wig over the night: 2 pints snake bite(ask barman), 2 WKD, 1 bud, 2 snakebite, 2 smirnoff ice, i bud, 3 snakebite.. then take a couple of bottles before you leave. £1 per pint/bottle.
move on to tavistok for an absinth, then go to the horse, finally go to the willoboughy for a free style rap session and snake bite, (ask for Ali-T, a ginger most fridays on balcony or bar). after all this heavy drinkin go to the park or the highstreet for a few trolley races with other drinkers. cap the night of with Sugar, and drink vodka and redbull all night until you are unconscious, if not too wrecked go for pull.
Finally after a rawkus night go to Halikarnis for the nicest burger or kebab you've ever tasted. either get a taxi or crash at a mates. lie in bed take a couple of paracetamol...then look forward to the hangover.
Best pubs/bars:

1. Wig and Pen - for cheapness
2. White horse - for social and comedy value
3. Glasnost vodka bar - for biggest selection of flavoured vodkas
4. Winstons - for pool
5. Willoughby
6. Benjamin Satchwells
7. Oceans
8. Tavistock Arms

Joe's night out

For a quality night out in leamington you should: arrive before 7pm and take advantage of the half-price cocktails in Voodoo. Choose from Absinth Coolers to Tequila Shakers. Now you are warmed up, move on to The Other Place if you want a cheapish game of Pool, or on to Ocean Bar to chill out before you are greeted with the Wig & Pen £2 door charge and drinks at £1 each. Mister V is a good option if hunger is setting in. From here you should consider
The Benjamin Satchwell, a second trip to Voodoo or The White Horse, where you'll just about be able to reach the bar, amidst countless drinkers of all ages. If you are up for some clubbing, Sugar is top of the field with dance floor and milk floor (chill out room), with Club Mirage offering more mainstream club tunes. Book your taxi for 2ish if you are beyond staggering distance and leave yourself time for the obligatory friday night kebab.

Pete's Night Out

Nights out usually begin with a trip to either the White Horse (We're bound to see someone we know, there's good music and atmosphere, and jugs of Vodka and Red Bull for a tenner.), Wig and Pen for some good deals on the drinks, or Robbin's Well for a bit of alternative music and a good student scene. Then depending on the mood its either Mirage or Sugar. We prefer the atmosphere in Mirage but the music sucks after about 12.30. The DJ is also crap, but when you're pissed he can get away with it. I'm dissapointed with how Thursday nights have changed in there too, they used to play some indie but now its just cheesy chart shite. Saturdays are for dance music which means Sugar has to be first choice as Mirage is all CHEESE!

After a heavy night though, a trip to the kebab shop is often more than welcome, but from previous experience I have to recommend avoiding McKhans, they seem to have an attitude problem and I've received crap service in there in the past. Oh, and their kebabs tend to disagree with me the next day! Stick to Halikarnas.

Another thing I have to recommend is the 'In the groove' events, these are the best nights of clubbing that Leamington has to offer. They are superbly DJ'd and have a great atmosphere.

Lollie and Helen's Night Out

From our first visits to Leam the White Horse and Sugar seemed the best thing there but on further investigation we found that the Wig and Pen do a few good deals on the drink (I should know, my boyfriend got trollied on Friday!)

My only problem with Sugar being WHERE IS THE PODIUM???!!!! Now mirage may not be the most renowned club but after going to their halloween party organised by the 'In The Groove' team (and superbly DJ'd may I add) I will definately be there for the Christmas shin-dig!! As for Rio's.................yeah, moving swiftly along.

Winston's is only for the brave, you are alright as long as you can get in, down your drink and escape before losing ALL street cred!! Rumblers and Wobblers being the only redeeming feature.

Always something to do, even Halikani's for food after a hard night on the bottle. 10/10 for choice and drink-as-much-as-possible nights. Lollie and Helen xxx

Generally we start off with a bottle of wine or vodkas or both!!.

Playing 5's and 7' s which is the best drinking game ever. Slightly tipsy, and having a laugh we hit the Wig & Pen, which is £2 to get in and a pound a pint (Drink bottles though because the pints can be a bit weak. ) Also we go there on a Tuesday, this is really good same offer but good DJ and music and you also get the benefit of a free meal, which is fair play, and if you get there before 7 you get it all for free which is what we do!

Back to Friday's, after checking out the fitness in the Wig &Pen we hit Winstons for a wobbler, but literally just in and out because if you're not wearing shed loads of designer stuff you look out of place, oh and it is shit. We then hit the Tavistock for an Absenth, (Which is the way forward, although if you have too many you become blind and impotent, which is always makes a good night)

Then it is the trusty White Horse, which is full of honeys, and you always know someone, and has kickin music! If we have a spare £8 we hit Sugar, which is f*ckin' brilliant, but save you're energy for Thursday night, because it is only £3 to get in, and there are more honeys.

After that it Halikarnas for garlic potato wedges which are the way forward, but only have them if you have little chance of pulling. (Curran has them all the time)

Wednesday night is white horse night, this is £2 to get in £1 a drink, a good laugh lots of honeys, you can even pull in there!!!!!! A drink that we have now which always makes it a comedy night is vodka & Reef, a round costs £2 a single vodka topped up with reef, (as a mixer) guaranteed to make you forget everything that happened the night before. Also visit the hogshead for a hoegarten, 7% alcohol and tastes like it too!
