The Royal Pump Rooms have now reopened to the public and they look pretty good. Not all the sections are open, but when they are (end of August) it will include :
* Assembly rooms (venue for concerts, conferences, banquets etc.)
* Cafe open 9-5, 7 days a week (longer hours in summer) with terrace.
* Tourist information centre with new computerised accomodation booking system and hole-in-the-wall tourist information available 24x7.
* Gift shop
* Art gallery - works by 19th & 20th century artists
* Museum
* Interactive gallery & education room for the kids
* Library including information technology suite
* "Take the waters" that made the spa town
Currently the cafe, library, art gallery, kids education room, tourist information and gift shop are open. The spa waters are still being tested for safety. The cafe seems quite nice with a reasonable range of food and drinks in a pleasant setting. The library drags itself into this decade, looking much smarter than the old library with lots more computers & that sort of thing. The art gallery's fairly dull but then I guess you wouldn't expect the Tate. Museum & assembly rooms open at the end of August. Take a look at the Royal Pump Rooms web site for more information.
