The Priory Theatre is a self-funding theatre run by our members for the benefit of the local community. We produce around 9 productions a year including a broad mix of entertainment: comedy, drama and pantomime.

We are a member of the Little Theatre Guild and are very proud of our standard of productions and our friendly atmosphere.

We have a thriving Youth Theatre, and the theatre has an extensive range of costumes and props available to hire. We work closely with many charitable organisations in the area that regularly book performances at special rates to raise funds for their organisation.

The Loft TheatreThe Loft Theatre's team of comedy improvisers, Impromania, are doing a series of Sunday night gigs at the Lounge bar, 130 The Parade (the old Haunch of Venison pub).

I've caught a couple of the shows since they started a few weeks ago, and they really are very funny. If you've seen Whose Line Is It Anyway? then you'll know more or less what to expect - the team act out scenes based on suggestions from the audience, with results that vary from the surreal to the plain silly!

These are the only people doing comedy improv in the area - you really should try and catch them. The shows start at 8pm each Sunday and admission is £4.
